BABA MWALIMU BARUTI – AFRIKAN-CENTERED CONSCIOUSNESS VS THE NEW WORLD ORDER

April 14 @ 12:00 pm 5:00 pm

$10

Baba Baruti is returning to the Black Dot Cultural Center to give a lecture on what he deems is the MOST IMPORTANT book written by Nana Amos Wilson: Afrikan-centered Consciousness VS The New World Order: Garveyism in the Age of Globalism.

In two masterful lectures contained within the pages of this modest text, Dr. Wilson challenges the all too pervasive assumption and false perception that the “New World Order” is somehow ordained-that if Afrikan people are to progress, they have no other alternative but to remain colonized by White-Western interests. This of course is patently false. Dr. Wilson debunks this myth with an insightful analysis of the Legacy of Marcus Garvey and the proven validity of African-centered consciousness as a necessary psychological and material tool in the struggle for true liberation.

Baba Mwalimu K. Bomani Baruti is co-founder and co-director of Akoben Institute, a full-time, independent, Afrikan-centered homeschooling program for middle and high schoolers that celebrated its 21st year of service to our community.  He has written and self-published 27 books (and 5 workbooks) addressing issues ranging from manhood to chess, the Middle Passage, and relationships to education to security.  He is a former faculty at Chicago State University and Morehouse College.  For the last twenty years, he has continued this work through teaching courses, classes, and lectures online at the Akoben Institute for Adults and Youth.  He has been married to Yaa Mawusi Baruti for 35 years and they have one daughter, Alaya, who lives with her husband and six children.
